While Joel was taking his master's class at Grand Valley this summer he saw a ton of people running around downtown in a race of some sort. We watched the news that night and realized it was the 1st ever Grand Rapids Urban Adventure Race...kinda like the Amazing Race but local! We quickly found the website and signed up for email notices for upcoming races. Little did we know that the next race would be already in the fall! We immediately signed up and secured my parents for watching Parker the night before the race!
We had good intentions of training for the race, but time slipped away from us and training did not happen! Race day came...we had to get up earlier than we would have if Parker was home!
Not great pictures, but at least it is something to document our day!
We didn't do quite as well as we had hoped, but considering the circumstances we felt we did pretty well. We missed a few check points due to poor map reading and by the time we got to the running portion of the race we were already having muscle cramps so we couldn't run for the majority of the time. All in all it was one of the most fun things we have done together!
Our final ranking was....Over all 66th and in our division 28th. There were 331 teams that finished the race. We are Team Parks and Rec.
Next time we train! :)
