While having lunch at Great-Grandpa & Grandma Nagelkirk's house we decided to snap a Nagelkirk family picture. Grandpa ended up being quite the photographer telling people where to stand and taking shots from different angles!

Seventeen Months...
What has our little man been up to you may ask?! Well here it is...
Chatter, chatter, chatter....the chatter is starting to actually make more sense lately! Parker is starting to repeat things we say when instructed, but he does have quite the uninstructed vocabulary now too. He can say:
Hi
Bye or Buh-bye
Duck
Dog
More
Help
Please
Thank you...my favorite! Sounds like "Tink You"!
All done
Mommy...not very often. He still calls me daddy sometimes!
Daddy
Water
Ball
Snack...he says this one a lot! His weight might greatly increase at his next check up!
Baby...he says this while pointing at the TV when he wants to watch Praise Babies!
Up
Book
Cheese
Milk
Shoes
Boat
Squirrel
Pray...he is very zealous Sheri!
Becoming a dancing fool! We are realizing what we must look like dancing when we watch Parker dance...he had to have learned those moves from us! Our favorite dance memory is him dancing along to the intro dance that Ellen always does on her show. He was going crazy! We recorded his moves and I am tempted to send it in!
Sitting in Time Out...Parker is starting to test the boundaries a little. Nothing major but we want to make sure that we are maintaining control! We joke that he is "The Good, Bad Kid" because he will do something that we tell him not too and then when we put him in Time Out on the chair he sits perfectly and does not move! He does cry sometimes while he sits there, but we can leave the room and he will not move from the chair.
Discipline is something I have always worried about how we would handle. When he does something "bad" we sometimes think it is kinda funny too, but we have to remain serious. The other night during dinner Parker threw a piece of food. We told him we do not throw food and if he did it again he would get a Time Out. He immediately grabs another piece of food and holds it in his hand over his head and looks at both of us....oh brother! About a minute later he threw it! To Time Out he went! It's hard not to laugh at situations like this!
Favorite toys...Mardi Gras beads from a Bachelorette Party I went to. He will play with them for 30 minutes at a time putting them on, taking them off, running around with them around his neck and swinging them in the air. Wild Child! Also, we gave him Joel's old camera and he carries it around holding it up to his face and saying "Cheese"! The funniest part of it all is that he is the one smiling while he does it.
Praying...Parker constantly reminds us to pray at meals. He gets a couple bites of food in his mouth, folds his hands and looks at us until we start to pray, and at the end he always claps! It is so sweet to see him wanting to pray and we both love to be the one who gets to tuck him in at night and snuggle up together to pray before he goes to bed.

Back into the swing of things...
Our lives have taken a drastic change this month as Joel has headed back to school! The lazy days of summer with no schedules and lots of free time for the three of us to hang out has come to an end. We try to hold onto summer every evening as the weather still stays warm. Parker enjoys spending this time playing on his swing set in the backyard.

Counter Snacks...
Parker thinks he is big stuff when I let him eat his snack on the counter. Probably not safe, but I stick close by to supervise.

Green Day...
We are always looking for new nightly outings to help pass the time between dinner and bedtime...the driving range was tonight's choice. Parker was so adorable as he watched Joel and tried to imitate his golf swing!

Blanford Nature Center...
My Moms In Tow group posted a free day at the Blanford Nature Center so Kelly and the boys met us there for an afternoon of exploring through the woods, learning about injured animals, having a picnic lunch and ending the day with some muddy play! I guess I didn't know that the BNC takes in injured animals...Kelly and I realized this after every plaque said that the animal was either hit by a car or shot! Yikes! It was a good teachable moment for the kids to realize cars are very dangerous!
