We loaded the car up with all of our gear and were ready for an action packed outdoor weekend! We set up camp at the state campground and then headed out for a long bike ride on some beautiful trails.
Joel got a road bike this year so we are excited to do some serious biking this summer. The bike ride was really fun and we saw some great sights, but we did run into a little rain!
After biking we went back to the campground, took down our tent in the pouring rain, headed to the nearest hotel parking lot where we could get a free internet connection and booked a hotel room on Priceline! It's all about being flexible, right?!? We figured there is no better way to chase away the rainy blues than heading to a winery! Black Star Winery was so beautiful and had the most amazing cheese ever...the wine was good too! We ate several samples of cheese and then ended up buying a huge chunk of it along with some crackers and ate it in the car!
Since it still wasn't great weather on Sunday we drove around in the car and visited Sleeping Bear Dunes and Arcadia Buffs Golf Course. Joel loved the golf course and desperately wished he could be golfing there! I thought it looked very challenging and would definitely not be a good place for me to golf!
Traverse City was such a great place to visit (rain or shine) and we loved being able to get away from home for a long weekend, celebrating our 1st year of marriage and making plans for the future!
